Outlier in town filled with cookie-cutter boring bars. Come here if looking to enjoy your friends, some food and craft beer. How a tavern should be.

A very fun local bar, tons of beer choices and a large food menu.
Very nice people work there...definitely worth a stop! -

Could be much better - large bar and good number of tvs but services is so sloooooowww and the taps are overpriced - mostly $8 for 12 ounce pours. It's not the City.

Service was extremely slow and there were only a few people there for lunch. After waiting for our food for 40 min (we gave ourselves an hour for lunch) we asked for our food to go. The bar tender was so rude and she commented "if you were in a rush you should have told us. We have a small kitchen what do you expect us to do?"
No apology. I guess it was our fault to assume a pub would serve a relatively quick lunch.
Salad was fine but the Cuban sandwich was just eh. -

I saw on Untapped that 8th Street Tavern was doing a "Best of the East Coast Tap Takeover" so I figured this was a good reason to check the place out.
Stopped in at around 1 in the afternoon on Saturday, 1/19/19. They were still in the process of changing over a majority of the taps but I was able to get one of the new beers immediately. It was a little hectic while they were doing the changeover but it was handled very professionally by the staff and not one of the customers seemed to really mind the experience. As they were just finishing up the transition the staff was already handing out the new menus with the 10 newly tapped beers on them. It was completely obvious that a large majority of the customers were there for the Tap Takeover because almost everyone was on the Untapped app on their phones. A really nice option this place offers is $4 beer pours. It's a smaller glass but a great way to try a larger variety of drinks. They even had a sampler of all 10 new beers for $36!
The jukebox was playing random music of all different types while I was there, I didn't notice any one style, or artist, being played repeatedly.
I had an order of the poutine (which is made here with chorizo added) and it was pretty good. Different, but still pretty good.
The staff here was really what made this place get 5 stars. They were very accommodating and made sure no one at the bar waited longer than they should have for anything. On the other end they also let you breath and finish your drink without asking if you were ready for another.
